What do I need to sign up?

For a rent plan, we'll need to see your drivers licence, proof of address, and your driver profile on your rideshare app. If you're not a driver yet, please sign up here.

If you're having trouble with your application, get in touch, and we'll see what we can do to help you out!

If you haven’t signed up to Uber, we can help you take care of this process too!

How do I pay for my rental plan?

You can pay the initial Establishment fee of $149 using cash, credit card, eftpos, or a bank deposit.

Part week rent is also due at signup, meaning you pay for the days remaining in the current week. ie, if you start you’re rental on a Thursday, you’ll pay for the remaining days in that week being, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. After that a Direct Debit will be setup to take further weekly payments.

Weekly Rental payments are deducted every Wednesday morning via direct debit. If your first week of rental is less than seven days, your payment amount will be adjusted accordingly.

Payment for a Finance plan is organised on a case-by-case basis.

What do I have to pay before picking up my car?

If you're starting a Flexible Rental plan, all you’ll need to pay before driving away is an establishment fee of $149. In addition you may also have to pay a Fully-Refundable deposit starting at $500 for Hybrid vehicles, $2,500 for EV vehicles, subject to each application.

For Rent-To-Own Plans, an initial deposit of $2,500 is required. This is non-refundable and goes towards the first years insurance premiums and other on road costs.

The deposit and fees for a Finance plan will depend on a number of factors, including credit history, driver rating, driver history, and chosen vehicle.

How does the referral programme work?

It's easy - for every person who signs up with your unique referral code, you'll get $50! This fee will be credited to your account after they've been with Mode Rideshare for one month.

How long does it take to get a vehicle?

This can happen within 24 hours, but will generally be arranged within three to four working days from application, provided both your joining fee and bond (if applicable) have been paid.

Can I drive my vehicle for purposes other than business?

Please do. As long as the primary use is rideshare driving, you're more than welcome to use it for personal driving too!

Of course - provided they are over 25 years of age, have a Full NZ drivers licence, they're more than welcome to use it - they just have to have their name added to the agreement (there is no extra cost for this). Please note that only one named driver can use the vehicle for Uber or rideshare purposes.

Can anyone else drive the vehicle?

All Mode Rideshare plans include 24/7 Mechanical Roadside Assistance under contract with NZRA. If you require assistance, please call 0508 697 623 or (0508 NZ ROAD).

What happens if the vehicle breaks down?

Am I insured?

Yes, we provide Comprehensive insurance for commercial rideshare driving as part of your plan. The standard excess is $2,000. This excess is the amount you are responsible up to for each claim or event that occurs.

Please note that the insurance coverage is specified in your rental policy, and is only valid if you adhere to the terms and conditions.

Plans other than rental plans are dealt with on a case by case basis. Please get in touch to talk through your options.

How much is the excess?

If you are at fault in an accident, a $2,000 excess applies as outlined in your contract. In cases where you are not at fault the excess may be refunded once the claim has been adequatley resolved with the other party.

Once you have ensured everyone is safe and emergency services have been alerted, call your rideshare specialist on 0800 663374, who will guide you through the process. It's important to do this as soon as possible. Outside of business hours, call NZRA on 0508 697 623 (NZ ROAD), who will help manage the situation.
